Surrogacy Programs May Be a Good Choice for Developing a Family

Couples all across the world usually have the wish to become parents and make their own family but this at times becomes impossible for few. The reason is that they cannot become parents naturally and there are statistical reports not always artificial means are able to solve the problem because of complete inability of either the man or the woman to become a parent. When the man is completely incapable of becoming the father, the couple usually takes help of sperm banks and sperm donors so that the lady can conceive. However, when the lady is incapable of becoming a mother surrogacy programs are the solution.

Though, sperm donation concept is easier as it does not require direct involvement of many persons as the sperm donor’s identity can be kept hidden. However, in surrogacy there is involvement of the couple as well as the surrogate. She is the woman who would carry the baby in her womb for the woman incapable of becoming a mother naturally. This however, creates a lot of problem as to emotional factor as well as the risk factor. Usually, the process is quite risky and can cause severe health hazards for the woman carrying the child. Such issues relating to emotional and health matters make the program illegitimate in some countries. Therefore, certain countries do not permit surrogacy to take place by law while others allow it but with restrictions.

This sometimes leads the couples of one nation to travel to another nation to avail such facilities of surrogacy. Sometimes even the problem persists because surrogacy laws are usually favored mostly towards the surrogate. It totally depends on her whether she would actually at the end hand over the child to the interested parents. Such laws are made for them because only then will it be possible to give adequate value to the emotions of the surrogate woman.

Another reason surrogacy programs are not taken up by many is the cost involved in the process. The prices that the couple has to pay for this are exorbitantly high and therefore, sometimes out of the reach of many. The risk factor involved for the surrogate is what makes women not ready to become the carrier of a fetus. Hence, the excess demand with little supply of surrogates is something that makes the process so costly. However, with advancement of medical sciences the risk factors are reducing and hence the process of surrogacy is gaining popularity.
