If you want to become a surrogate, the medical process involved in it should be a comprehensive one. Although there is no set pattern to be followed for a process to be deemed comprehensive, you can expect the following basic steps to be a part of it:
- After you have got yourself admitted to program after getting through the initial screening, you will be scheduled to come to the surrogacy agency with your spouse or partner for a further psychological and medical screening.
- It will take around two weeks for your screening results to come out. At this point onwards, you will be presented with profiles of the parents that could be the ideal match for you.
- As soon as you find your right match, you will be made to meet with the intended parents. This is often termed as match meeting. You need to meet them before you consider going ahead with things. Within two to three weeks, this schedule would be done.
- If all goes well and there is no problem with regards to any issue for both parties, this will be the time for a legal contract.
- The time for entering into what is known as the embryo cycle would commence with two or three months after the said match meeting.
As soon as you are pregnant and eight weeks into it, you will be asked to join an obstetrician close to your home. However, a good surrogacy agency would support you throughout your journey of pregnancy.
