Surrogacy and Its Procedures

The boon of giving birth to a child is not given to everyone. Some couples are deprived of this happiness. With the increase in the number of lesbians, gays and bisexuals, practices like surrogacy, egg donation and sperm donation is increasing all over the globe. Surrogacy is like a boon to those people and couple who cannot get pregnant themselves. Surrogacy is a term used for an arrangement made in which a woman gets ready to be pregnant and carries the baby till birth for another person or couple.

The woman who agrees to carry the baby is called surrogate. Thus the word surrogate over here means a person who substitutes or takes place of any other person. Thus, surrogate carries a baby in her womb for someone else and hand over the baby to the intended parents after birth.

The surrogate woman is made to conceive by artificial insemination. In most of the cases, the sperms are of the intended father. Sometimes the sperm could be of a sperm donor. The surrogate can also be made pregnant by means of surgical method. In the surgical method, the fertilized egg is implanted with the intention of making the surrogate pregnant.

There are 2 options for surrogacy. First is full and the second is partial.

Full surrogacy: It is also known as host surrogacy. It is the type of surrogacy which is mostly practiced. In this type, arrangements are made between the intended parents and the surrogate to carry the baby. The embryo in this procedure should be made from any of the following case:
  1. The egg and the sperms are both of the intended parents.
  2. A donated egg is made to fertilize with the sperm of the intended father. This is done by a procedure called In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
  3. Both the egg and the sperms are of a donor.

The surrogate mother is not related to the baby either biologically or genetically.

In partial surrogacy, the egg of the surrogate is made to fertilize with the sperm of wither the intended father or a sperm donor. This is done by artificial insemination. Egg donation is done for helping the women who cannot produce healthy fertile eggs. Most of the women who donate egg are between the age of 21 to 35, since their egg is most fertile and healthy. Several tests are done prior the donation to check whether the donor is fit enough.

Many couples are deprived of their happiness of having their own child. These practices are the best solution to provide such couples with immense happiness and joy in their life.

Things a Sperm Donor Should Know

Where do you find a sperm bank to help you in need? Why is a sperm bank so important in today’s world? With the increasing amount of stress and growing problem with the world, it is important for us to realize that sterility is a part and parcel of life. It can happen due to many things, and it in no way is a threat to masculinity. Nowadays, it has to be understood that a person’s sterility is not something he or she can help, and even if after trying for a child for quite some time, you realize that your sperms are not that strong, or you have other problems, then it is time to consider going to the professionals for it.

One of the other reasons why people look for a sperm bank is when the couple is of the same sex, and one of them wants to be a mother. This is quite common in lesbian couples where both partners are capable of having children, and they are quite apt at raising them too. So, to help them in need, a good sperm bank is the best place to go.

If you are a person who have a high sperm count, then you too can help by donating your sperm to help people in need. A child is a blessing, and many times you would find yourself in a situation where you see childless couples looking around hopelessly for a solution to their problem. You can be the solution. A competent sperm donor can easily help impregnate a large number of eggs, and as a donor you would be helping people looking for a child realize their dreams and hopes.

It is important to know that generally sperm donation is considered to be a youthful profession, as during this time, a man is at his most active, and therefore, most effective. It is also important to know that when you are going to become a sperm donor, there are a few protocols you must maintain. For example, confidentiality is a very important thing – the sperm donor must never try to find out about the fruits of his loins, and the identity of his children. It complicates issues and brings a lot of problems, not just to the donor, but also to the child born out of it and their parents. Another thing that should be maintained is a clean bill of health, which is needed to keep the person in question safe.
